Description
PROTTYASHI, A social development organization has been responding the Rohingya Crisis in Cox’s Bazar and Bhasan Char since the crisis and relocation has been started and currently is going to implement project in the Rohingya community of Bhasan Char Camp with the funding of International Organization of Migration (IOM) to promote self-reliance of the Rohingya population. PROTTYASHI invites applications for the vacant position titled- Product Development Specialist for the “Promoting Shelter Upgradation and Community Building for Rohingya Refugees in Bhasan Char and Cox’s Bazar District” Project.
Reporting
Product Development Specialist will report to Project Coordinator of PROTTYASHI. S/He has to maintain functional relationship with his/her peers, project teams and organization’s other priority teams. S/He must be able to communicate with other teams and units both program and operational of the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute innovative strategies for the creation of handicraft products (Hand Stitching, Macramé, Crushed, Karchupi, Jewelry box and Book binding items) aimed at enhancing livelihoods for Rohingya refugees.
- Research market trends and conduct needs assessments within the refugee and host community contexts to identify opportunities and preferences for craft products.
- Collaborate with local artisans, designers, and craftspeople to conceptualize, design, and produce high-quality, culturally relevant craft items.
- Manage the end-to-end product development lifecycle, ensuring designs are feasible, cost-effective, and align with cultural sensitivities.
- Oversee quality control measures to ensure crafted products to meet market standards and are suitable for market distribution.
- Collect feedback from the target communities to iteratively improve product designs and meet evolving needs.

Required Educational Qualification and Experience
- Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Product Design, Crafts, Art & Design, or a related field.
- 5 years of experience in product development, particularly in the creation of craft items using Hand Stitching, Macramé, Crushed, Karchupi, Jewelry box and Book binding, jute, bamboo, wood and hand painting techniques.
- Proficiency in project management tools and methodologies specific to craft-based product development.
- Understanding and appreciation of cultural nuances and preferences within the Rohingya and Cox’s Bazar, Noakhali host communities.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
- Experience collaborating with local artisans and communities in crafting initiatives.
- Familiarity with sustainable practices in craft production.
- Knowledge of marketing or distribution channels for crafted products within refugee and local community contexts
Salary and benefits: Monthly Gross Salary will be 61,723 BDT contributory provident fund 2,444, Monthly bonus 5,833 and regular traveling and communication bill.
