Description

U.S. Embassy Dhaka is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for the position of Refugee Assistant.

The employee, under the direct supervision of the Regional Refugee Coordinator, serves as the sole locally employed staff member at Embassy Dhaka supporting the Regional Refugee Coordinator in the Political Section. The employee provides support to all substantive and administrative aspects of planning and implementing U.S. government humanitarian assistance policy in the region. The employee maintains contacts with a variety of international organizations, including United Nations agencies, non-government organizations, and host government officials. The employee monitors USG-funded humanitarian activities in the protection, health, education, livelihoods, and social service sectors.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

• Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Management or Science is required. (U.S. equivalent College Studies) (You must attach a copy of your bachelor’s degree certificate along with your application form.)
• At least three years of progressively more responsible experience with refugees and humanitarian assistance, or international development.
• Level IV (fluent) English, Bangla, Chittagonian and/or Rohingya is required. These may be tested.
• The ability to plan, organize, and manage a wide variety of ongoing projects is required. Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Microsoft Word and Excel) is required. Outstanding interpersonal skills and ability to work under pressure is required. The ability to compile, understand and work with statistical information is required. Excellent oral and written communication skills in English and Bangla, and excellent oral communication skills in Chittagonian and/or Rohingya, are required.
