Description
- Provides assistance to Fire Safety Training to vendors in safe, environment, demonstrating good class control and safety supervision. Acts as Fire Instructor.
- Prepares and follows a creative lesson plan in conjunction with the requirements for each class within accepted program provider standards and operating procedures
- Supports delivery of both theoretical (class room) and field based training
- Ensures training are conducted to meet the needs, and level of development of the participants.
- Supports vendors with class safety. They must be continually aware of actual or potential dangers to participants and practice preventative life-guarding including accident and incident prevention i.e. behavioral concerns, potential accidents or collisions
- Ensure all firefighting equipment are clean and ready for use
- Guide the vendor in the cleaning and maintenance of all firefighting equipment
- Maintains neat, complete and accurate records of attendance and progress for all participants including providing input for the preparation of term and final progress reports. Keeping their own test sheets and providing written and verbal input.
- Follow appropriate channels of communication in dealing with vendors concerns are forwarded to the assigned class instructor in a timely manner
- Maintains effective public relations employing tactful, polite and helpful demeanor. Educates the trainees with respect to the content of programs offered by the Training Center
- Responding immediately and safely to emergency calls and requests for assistance; attending emergency incidents including fires, incidents, spillages of dangerous substances;
- Rescuing trapped people;
- Responding quickly to unforeseen circumstances as they arise;
- Cleaning up and checking the site after dealing with an incident;
- Taking time to become familiar with local streets, roads and buildings around their own and nearby fire stations in order to respond to emergency calls with the utmost speed and efficiency;
- Inspecting and maintaining the appliance (fire engine) and its equipment, assisting in the testing of fire hydrants and checking emergency water supplies;
- Undertaking drills and physical training and taking part in training on techniques, use of equipment and related matters; maintaining the level of physical fitness necessary to carry out all the duties of a firefighter;
- Maintaining links with the local community and educating and informing the public to help promote fire safety, e.g. giving talks to local organizations, and home visits to offer advice
Educational Qualification: Minimum graduate engineering degree in the Mechanical/ Electrical discipline.
Employment Status:

- Minimum Educational, professional and vocational qualifications required.
- Certified in firefighting training or a diploma as fire trainer is required for this position
- Minimum 3-5 years similar/relevant experience
