Description

The incumbent performs duties as an Immigrant Visa (IV) Assistant in the IV unit of the Consular section. The incumbent executes all procedures associated with the processing and printing of immigrant visas. S/he maintains the office supply inventory for the IV unit and orders items as required. S/he is also responsible for submitting motor pool and travel requests on behalf of the IV unit. The incumbent collects fees for all Consular services, ensuring the proper amount is collected for each service and issuing a receipt for each transaction. S/he ensures that correct cashiering procedures are followed, reconciling all fees with services and delivering written reports to the Accountable Consular Officer on a daily and monthly basis. S/he will do other duties as assigned.

Educational Qualification: Bachelor’s degree in Arts, Commerce, or Science is required (US equivalent – college studies). (You must attach a copy of your bachelor’s degree certificate along with your application form.)

Employment Status: Full-time

Additional Requirements

• Position requires a minimum of two years’ experience in administrative, governmental or para-professional.
• Level 4 (Fluent) English & Bangla Speaking/Reading/Writing is required. Ability to write English at the U.S. high school graduate level is required. Applicant is frequently required to serve as Bangla interpreter for English-speaking colleagues. This may be tested.
• Must be able to perform duties effectively and tactfully in a high pressure workplace. Incumbent must lift heavy IV files up to 20 pounds. Incumbent must perform cashiering functions, including calculations of required fees, quickly and accurately. Must demonstrate well-developed team skills and contribute to a collegial work environment and must possess expert interpersonal skills. Must possess advanced oral and written English language communications skills.
