Description
Roles & Responsibilities:
Financial Planning & Analysis
a. Formulate the company’s future direction and supporting tactical initiatives
b. Monitor and direct the implementation of strategic business plans
c. Develop financial strategies and recommend best practices to CEO
d. Manage the capital request and budgeting processes including all working capital requirements
e. Develop performance measures that support the company’s strategic direction
Controllership
a. Take full ownership of all accounts and financial statements
b. Develop internal controls
c. Ensure all accounting standards and practices are met
d. Develop monthly financial dashboard
e. Work closely with external auditors to ensure audited statements are complete and issued in a timely manner
Operations
a. Participate in key decisions as a member of the executive management team
b. Maintain in-depth relations with all members of the management team
c. Manage the accounting department and ensuring all standards are met
d. Handle all investor relations requirements including quarterly reporting
e. Oversee the financial operations of subsidiary companies and foreign operations
f. Oversee the company’s transaction processing systems
g. Develop & Implement Standard Operational Practices (SOP’s)
h. Oversee employee benefit plans
Financial Information
a. Oversee the issuance of financial information
b. Personally review and approve all financials before issued to CEO or any external party
c. Report financial results to the board of directors on quarterly basis
d. Ensure full transparency over the financial performance of the company
e. Report financial results to the board of directors and all shareholders
Risk Management
a. Understand and mitigate key elements of the company’s risk profile
b. Monitor all open legal issues involving the company, and legal issues affecting the industry
c. Construct and monitor reliable control systems
d. Ensure that the company complies with all legal and regulatory requirements
e. Ensure that record keeping meets the requirements of auditors and government agencies
f. Report risk issues to the audit committee of the board of directors
g. Maintain relations with external auditors and investigate their findings and recommendations
Funding
a. Monitor cash balances and cash forecasts
b. Recommend to CEO funding requirements including Capital Increases
c. Maintain banking relationships
d. Represent the company with investors and all other external parties
Third Parties
a. Participate in conference calls with the investment community
b. Maintain banking relationships
c. Represent the company with investment bankers and investors
The candidate chief financial officer should have a master’s degree in accounting or business administration, or equivalent business experience and 10+ years of progressively responsible experience for a major company or division of a large corporation. Should have experience in partnering with an executive team, and have a high level of written and oral communication skills. Preference will be given to candidates with an MBA in Finance and the Certified Public Accountant or Certified Management Accountant designations.
