Strategic Leadership and Program Development:

• Develop and implement the overall strategy for ESDO’s agricultural projects, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and community needs.
• Lead the design and execution of agriculture programs focused on sustainable farming practices, improved crop yields, and farmer empowerment.
• Drive innovation by integrating climate-smart agriculture, technology, and market-based solutions into agricultural initiatives.

Project Management and Execution:

• Oversee the implementation of agriculture projects, ensuring that all activities are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget.
• Manage project teams, including agricultural specialists, field officers, and support staff.
• Ensure proper coordination with local communities, government agencies, and partner organizations for effective project delivery.

Monitoring and Evaluation:

• Develop and oversee a robust monitoring and evaluation (M&E) framework to track project progress, outcomes, and impact.
• Ensure the collection and analysis of agricultural data to inform decision-making and project adjustments.
• Prepare regular reports for senior management, donors, and other stakeholders, highlighting key achievements, challenges, and lessons learned.

Stakeholder Engagement and Partnership Building:

• Build and maintain strong relationships with local and national government bodies, research institutions, and agricultural organizations.
• Engage with donors, investors, and other partners to secure funding and support for ongoing and future agriculture projects.
• Represent ESDO in forums, conferences, and meetings related to agriculture and rural development.

Capacity Building and Farmer Training:

• Lead the design and delivery of training programs aimed at building the capacity of smallholder farmers in areas such as modern farming techniques, climate adaptation, and value chain development.
• Work closely with field officers and extension workers to ensure that training is practical, localized, and responsive to farmers’ needs.

Research and Innovation:

• Identify new agricultural technologies and best practices to enhance productivity and resilience in farming communities.
• Conduct research on emerging trends in agriculture, including climate change impacts, pest control, and soil health management.
• Promote the adoption of innovative practices such as organic farming, agroforestry, and sustainable water management.

Financial and Resource Management:

• Manage the agriculture program’s budget and resources effectively, ensuring transparency and accountability.
• Work closely with the finance team to monitor project expenditures and prepare financial reports for donors.
• Optimize the use of resources to maximize the impact of ESDO’s agricultural initiatives.

Educational Requirements

• Masters in any discipline of Agriculture. Higher degree will get preferable.

Additional Requirements

• Age at most 50 years
• Both males and females are allowed to apply
• At least 5-10 years’ experience in any national/INGO/project/ Research Institute as a mid-level managerial position.
• At least 2 weeks field visits mandatory.
• Able to project proposal development in agriculture sector.
• Able to lead as a sectoral head of agriculture and lead as a team leader of all projects under agriculture sector and in this connection necessary field trip mandatory.
• Excellent English report writing skills. Computer skills is mandatory.
• Able to lead a big team consists of 10-15 projects in 5-8 districts catchment areas.
• Strong communication skills and able to facilitation, collaborations and coordination with donors, government officials.
• Strong capacity of problem solving.
• Strong knowledge of sustainable agriculture practices, climate-smart farming, and rural development.
• Proven experience in project management, including budget oversight, M&E, and stakeholder coordination.
• Experience working with smallholder farmers and knowledge of value chain development.
• Ability to work in a multicultural environment and manage teams across multiple locations.
• Strong leadership and team management skills.
• Excellent project management skills, with the ability to oversee multiple projects simultaneously.
• Expertise in agricultural research, data analysis, and reporting.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.

• Proficiency in both English and local languages.

Job Location

• Dhaka/Thakurgaon

Salary

• Tk. 70,000 to 80,000/- (Monthly). Salary will be negotiable in case of highly competent candidate.
